Programme Highlight 課題重點:

Join us for an informative program featuring two critical topics: Hot Water Safety and Water Pressure Safety, presented by the esteemed plumbing and drainage expert, Mr. William Cheung. Participants will explore essential aspects of hot water safety, including the risks associated with scalding, the importance of understanding various temperatures, and the safe mixing of cold and hot water. The session will also address Legionella concerns and outline effective safety measures for maintaining hot water systems.

The second part of the program will focus on water pressure safety, where participants will learn about the working pressures for pipes and equipment, potential risks of injury and damage, and guidelines for system pressure zoning. Key causes of water temperature fluctuations and permissible heat loss will also be discussed, along with the basic design principles of hot water return circulation.

Mr. William Cheung Kam Hung, 張錦雄先生, 
Prior to his retirement in 2018, Mr. Cheung served as the Technical Director of WSP Consulting Engineers, a renowned international consulting firm, where he led the Department of Plumbing, Drainage, and Hydraulics.

With 50 years of professional experience in both contracting and consulting, Mr. Cheung has worked on numerous local and international projects encompassing building and infrastructure, including airports, holiday resorts, residential complexes, offices, hotels, and hospitals. His expertise spans the design and installation of water supply systems, plumbing, and the disposal of foul and stormwater.

Mr. Cheung has consistently supported the HKIPD by participating as a speaker in CPD seminars for many years, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience with our engineering industry, particularly in plumbing and drainage.

This program will provide valuable insights into arbitration in engineering and construction disputes, focusing on plumbing engineering. Participants will learn about the fundamentals of arbitration as a dispute resolution mechanism, addressing key challenges such as jurisdictional issues, expert testimonies, and evidence presentation, while offering effective strategies for resolution.

A detailed case study will explore unique challenges in plumbing engineering, including design and regulatory compliance issues that lead to disputes. Participants will analyze a specific plumbing engineering case, reviewing its background, arbitration proceedings, and resolution. The program will conclude with an interactive Q&A session, allowing attendees to discuss questions and share experiences, fostering a collaborative learning environment.


Speaker(s) 講者:  
Julie T.Y. Lam, 林端容大律師. Called to the Bar in 2017, Julie became an accredited mediator with the Hong Kong Mediation and Arbitration Association in 2023.

Prior to joining her chambers, she served as a Judicial Associate to Honorable Justice Coleman in the High Court, where she assisted with high-profile judicial reviews. Julie also worked as a Government Counsel in the Department of Justice, handling cases in both the Civil Litigation and Commercial Crime Units.

A graduate of the University of Cambridge with an LLM with First Class Honours, she also earned her LLB with First Class Honours from The University of Hong Kong. Julie’s practice focuses on judicial review, commercial matters, family law, and regulatory issues, as well as regulatory matters and crimes.

Engineer Paul Chung is a Professional Structural Engineer and has been involved with a large number of modular integrated construction projects since the very first transitional housing project Nam Cheong 220 which was launched in year 2019. Paul has gained more than 40 years experience in design and construction management with overseas and local projects, he is actively working towards the development of MiC and construction management, and is the Honorary President of Hong Kong Institute of Construction Managers, Former President of The Society of Builders Hong Kong, The Immediate Past Chairman of 香港魯班廣悅堂 and joining a number of working groups to serve the industry.

Ms. Jessica Lee is a  BIM specialist with a rich background in the industry. With 7 years of experience in BIM project adoption and 4 years dedicated to BIM teaching and coaching, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. Jessica holds a bachelor's degree in architecture and has honed her skills through years of work in E&M consultant companies, providing her with a deep understanding of the diverse needs of stakeholders in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.

Throughout her career, Jessica has been involved in a wide array of civil and building construction projects. One of the standout projects in her portfolio is the Revitalization of shophouses at 600-626 Shanghai Street, which earned her team the prestigious Autodesk BIM award in 2017.

Since 2018, Jessica has served as an Autodesk Certified Professional BIM instructor, delivering top-notch training to a range of clients including major industry players such as SHKP, DSD, Lands D, HD, VTC, Benoy, ChunWo, Wong Tung, and others. Additionally, she contributes her expertise as a part-time tutor at the Construction Industry Council (CIC), further enriching the industry with her knowledge and practical insights.
